We are proud to be able to offer additional SEND support. Our students are supported on their learning journey through the school. They are challenged and encouraged to develop the best of their talent to gain the best academic and destination outcomes possible. Our experienced SEND department provide mentoring and support along with our excellent facilities and offer our students a wide range of opportunities to learn.

The SEND team consists of a full time SENDCo, Mrs Greenhalgh and a range of Teaching Assistants.
Students have access to the SEND base at break and lunchtimes providing a safe space and an opportunity to speak with members of the SEND team. Some intervention groups also make use of our Sanctuary space, which is a multi sensory room in the heart of the school.
Speech and Language intervention includes 1-1 teaching of SALT programmes and a vocabulary enrichment/language development group run by our ELKLAN trained TA in liaison with our linked speech therapist.
Dyslexia provision consists of the IDL multi-sensory program, which students can follow as part of a modified timetable and at our after school sessions.
Work takes places at KS3 and KS4 around emotional literacy via our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained assistants. This can be 1-1 and small group support and covers topics such as recognising emotions, building resilience, developing self-esteem and promoting friendship skills.
There are additional facilities for students who have additional physical needs. The campus is adapted for wheelchair access. We also have a hygiene room which is modified with a closimat toilet, we also have a number of accessible toilets around the site.
Our Pastoral team provide support for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. The SENDco and various staff in the SEND department and Pastoral Team liaise with appropriate external agencies as necessary.
