Animal handling will give students a sense of achievement and pride in their independence and help students develop a sense of responsibility.  

Taking care of animal welfare and housing will create a sense of conscientiousness and reliability. Through these practical activities, students will develop good working relationships with teachers and peers. Students will be taught that the dignity of the animals in their care is inherent and that they must be respected when handling them. 

Students will gain knowledge and develop the skills to handle and safely house a range of different animals.  

Students will be challenged to apply their knowledge to a range of contexts and different scenarios. Successful students will be able to complete assignments on animal handling and animal housing. The importance of animal legislation in keeping animals safe is also taught. 

High standards and expectations will be set in lessons for students to complete assignments and to participate in animal handling.  

We want students to develop in confidence in handling and housing a range of animals and for students on this course to develop aspirations to continue this work in future by becoming responsibly pet owners or to pursue further studies in animal management.
