We enable pupils to feel a sense of achievement and self-worth in their musical experience, as such we follow a curriculum program designed to make music accessible and build positive, supportive relationships in the classroom to develop confidence, ensemble skills and pride. We seek to develop pupils’ respect for music, for themselves and peers through creating a learning environment where all feel safe to contribute and experiment through music appraisal, composition and performance. By highlighting differences in musical era, style, performance techniques we seek to deepen pupils’ understanding of those around them.
We give our students a wide range of opportunities to share music within our local community through worship, local charities, links with feeder primary’s, parishes and other wider community groups.

We encourage our students to play to their strengths and to express themselves musically via a variety of core skills which they can explore independently and/or within an ensemble.
Our curriculum is structured in a way for our pupils to use previous learning in order to make connections over a variety of schemes of learning. Over time, students develop skills in performance, composing and appraising in order to respond creatively, becoming more confident, resilient and independent. Pupils are encouraged to perform and experiment out with their comfort zone to find new ways of expressing themselves

We want our pupils to have a desire to succeed and will always encourage them to go further and stretch themselves. Through class performances, Bishops’ Sessions, concerts and whole school productions we develop aspirations and ambition and the cultural capital to succeed in life.
