It is essential that they are supported by our scheme of learning for what they want to achieve. Maths isn’t just in the classroom, but it is evident in the real world as we build upon students’ strengths, prior knowledge, and interests will then engage and motivate them as these young people develop 21st-century skills. An underpinning drive to develop students who are resilient, determined, and respectful creates a positive set of values to apply to all areas of life and helps develop students’ character.

The teaching of mathematics helps and enables students to reach their own decisions. it teaches them that to solve a problem, one can reach the truth because it is objective and logical. Students must be encouraged to make connections and develop an inquisitiveness in mathematics learning. Within mathematics, there are rich opportunities for links among different concepts through our 7-year scheme of learning. Analytical thinking refers to the ability to think critically about the world around us. The skills that you use in framing the problem, identifying the knowns and unknowns, and taking steps to solve the problem can be a very important strategy that can be applied to other problems in life.

Applying mathematics in other curriculum areas inspires children and young people to develop their knowledge and understanding; for example, issues of global warming. Mathematicians can use data and modelling to assess the consequences of global warming to predict future trends.

Mathematics can make an important contribution by helping children and young people to make informed decisions and ensures students grow to be outstanding citizens. As they develop their understanding, they can interpret numerical information appropriately and use it to draw conclusions, assess risk, and make reasoned evaluations.
