What are year 7 students studying at Bishops’?
Our subject curriculum intent documents outline the topics studied by our students across the academic year. Further detail relating to each of the topics is communicated in our Learning Programmes, these are shared with students at the start of a half term or start of a topic, these can be found in student exercise books and on our website. The purpose of our Learning Programmes is to:
-Inform students what they will be learning across a half term/ topic
-Identify core knowledge and vocabulary for that half term/ topic
-Inform parents what their child will be learning across a half term/ topic
-Support independent revision/ study outside the classroom
-Provide the bigger picture so that students can make connections to what they already know.
Year 7 students have been provided with a Knowledge Organiser Book and have access to the Masters of Knowledge Booklet via satchel and the school website. The Masters of Knowledge Booklet has a series of questions relating to the essential knowledge students need to know for their subjects. Students have been taught how to use a knowledge organiser to study independently and support answering the Masters of Knowledge questions using a number of methods including quizzing techniques.
We ask parents/carers to use the Learning Programmes, Knowledge Organisers and Masters of Knowledge questions as tools to support and engage with their child’s learning.
The Masters of Knowledge resource is a newly introduced learning resource which we will further build upon as it is developed over time.
