Why Study Sociology?

Studying sociology helps you understand how society works and the forces that shape human behaviour. You’ll explore topics like inequality, culture, and social change, gaining insight into issues such as race, class, gender, and education. It’s a great choice if you’re curious about people and want to make a positive impact on the world.

You would be the first cohort to study Sociology at Bishops’ but in the past we have had students go on to study the subject at University with a combination of complimentary courses.

New for September 2025, we plan to have a Sociology specialist who will lead this course, drawing on their experience in the subject.
