2019 GCSE Results

Magnificent 7s – One quarter of all reformed GCSE grades were 7s, 8s and 9s!

Congratulations to every student in year 10 and 11 at The Bishops’ Blue Coat CE High School in Chester for the excellent grades achieved today.  The two years of focussed hard work brought Religious Studies success for year 10, with 77% of students achieving a grade 4.  Year 11 then topped this with 83% of our students achieving grade 4 and above in English.  A quarter of all the grades achieved were at 7 or above. Headteacher Ian Wilson said, “I am delighted to see so many excellent individual performances. We are proud of all of our students including those who achieved magnificent grade 7s, 8s and 9s and those who, while not necessarily obtaining the highest grades, secured ones that demonstrated significant progress in their journey through secondary school.”

These results are not Lucky 7s but a reflection of the hard work of students, the support of their families and the dedication and commitment of the Bishops’ staff.  For the third year in a row, students have secured the top grade 9s in English, Mathematics and the Sciences due to positive relationships and the school’s STEM Assured Status, the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) achieved 31% of their grades at 7 and above, or equivalent. Furthermore, creative subjects achieved some incredible top grades with 24% of grades from Art, Drama and Music at grade 7 and above. A wide variety of talent and achievement has been joyfully recognised this morn
